Jeanne Posey LLB, LLM
Barrister and Solicitor
“Every man is entitled if he can to arrange his affairs so that the tax attaching under the appropriate Acts is less than it otherwise would be. If he succeeds in ordering them so as to secure that result, then, however unappreciative the Commissioners of Inland Revenue or his fellow taxpayers may be of his ingenuity, he cannot be compelled to pay an increased tax” - IRC v Duke of Westminster AC1 (HL)
Before entering law school, Jeanne had a very successful career as a mortgage broker on Vancouver Island. “I enjoyed working with my clients as a mortgage broker to help them achieve their dreams of homeownership by making it a reality.” When Jeanne entered law school, she did so intending to become a family lawyer. After taking her first tax course, she was hooked, and her focus immediately changed. Jeanne’s love for the complexity and ever-changing nature of tax is what helped her complete the Master of Tax Program at UBC, and it’s what makes her the perfect fit with Moodys.
